Jim Humphreys from the Civic Federation sent this information about a forum this weekend on county growth policy. If anyone goes and wants to report back what they saw, please drop a message.
PUBLIC FORUM ON GROWTH POLICY – SATURDAY, MAY 5
The Montgomery County Planning Board will host a public forum on the county growth policy this Saturday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission headquarters in Silver Spring (see attached press release).
The forum will be broken into two parts. For the first hour, Planning Board Chairman Royce Hanson will lead a discussion of growth related issues with a panel comprised of 5 members of the civic community and 5 members of the development industry. I am pleased to have been chosen as a civic representative. Following the panel discussion, members of the audience will be invited to ask questions or offer comments.
In a week or so following this forum, the Planning Board Commissioners will approve the set of recommendations they will make to the County Council. Then the Council will hold its public hearing and worksessions, and vote on any changes to the growth policy before the August recess.
This is a great opportunity residents are being given to weigh in on the pace of growth and development in the county. Hope to see you there this Saturday.
